ABOUT ME

Connor Kelly is a Spokane, WA based woodturner specializing in revival of ancient vessels and forms into wooden pieces that invoke an equal sense of antiquity and modernity. Great respect is paid to the timeless forms of cultures past, both in technique and finish, and to the species of timber chosen for each form.

Each collection delves into cultures and histories that embraced the functional and artistic elements of their works. Finding Time surveyed an expansive range of localities and time periods while exploring finishes representative of yellow and red black figure paintings of ancient Grecian cultures.

In the upcoming collection The Symposium, forms take after a relatively narrow window of Grecian history centered around the drinking culture found specifically at symposia. These large gatherings encouraged celebration of intellectual conversation shared over feasts and wine.

Every TimberVox piece has a history — from the reference material to the life of the tree. And while sketching, turning, and carving provide a framework for form, the voice of the tree refines the vessel into something truly exceptional.
